It makes little sense in the grand scheme, but I think this has to do 
with the desire to have things ready at the time of the Archimedes 
launch.  Computer Concepts were working on Impression, but it wasn't 
going to be ready for many months.  However, they had the 6502 code 
basis of what became the Inter series, and could take advantage of the 
graphics and large memory space on the Archimedes, so they expanded what 
they had to fit.  I expect some of their staff who did 6502 code looked 
after that, while others (I know) wrote ARM and C code for Impression 
and other products that came later.  Interword etc weren't available 
right at the Archimedes launch, AFAIR, but very soon thereafter, while 
Impression came very much later.
