ROM based software was a big feature of the BBC Micro and I guess that
people expected that it would continue to be important on the Archimedes.
AFAIK there were 2 ROM podules produced, the first by Acorn (
http://acorn.chriswhy.co.uk/32bit_Upgrades/Acorn_AKA05_ROMpodule.html )
which was one of the first podules launched. and the other by Computer
Concepts, which produced lots of BBC ROM based software, (
http://acorn.chriswhy.co.uk/32bit_Upgrades/CC_ROMRAM.html ).
