Looking at a map, that must be thirty or forty miles. Did they run tram
lines that far? OTOH, I can see why they might have done it, Blackpool
being a major seaside resort.

Topical fact: Blackpool was in the path of the last eclipse of the Sun
visible in the UK, in June 1927.
