XTerm uses all free memory as the serial input buffer, about 4K on the
BBC. I have had no problems using XTerm connected at 19,200 to a 14,400
modem.  Yes, that's not continuous 19,200, but, say 2K spurts for a 80x24
screen of text and 1K spurts for YModem transfers.
 
Additionally, XTerm fixes the NUL-NUL serial input bug on the Master
Compact.
