Subject: Wanted: Econet & SJ Research enthusiast to adopt MDFS &

Hiya

I visited my parents' place today and noticed that I still have
a fully working (I assume -- it used to be 3 years ago! -- may need a new
CMOS battery but they're easy to buy and solder on) SJ Research MDFS.

It has, from memory:
1 x 60MB tape drive (the new type to backup the larger partition sizes
supported by FS 2.00). The drive also *works* last I checked.
I have some old tapes too.
I fitted the tape drive a few years ago:

3 x hard drives of various sizes. I think the largest is
   512MB which I partitioned into 60MB-ish chunks.
The others are probably 200MB, 20 or 40MB -- I had a bunch of larger
hard drives from old SUN boxes and so on that I stuffed into it,
   so I'm not entirely sure.

1 x double 5.25" disk drive. I have to admit that I bodged this one in--
it was one of those external viglen ones, but it looks ok (at least
     from a distance ;-) )
     http://www.polplex.co.uk/~mozes/dl/MDFS/011.jpg

Various 5.25" floppies, including some SJ utilities -- not sure if
there's anything special on them. I do have an original FS 2.00 (the
last version of the MDFS FileServer code) disc.

2 x clock boxes. One of them is overclocked and I was able to play
 a 128Kbit MP3 on my RiscPC using a 1 meter network cable ;-)

1 x RiscPC Econet card and various Econet utilities on floppies
The SJ MDFS 2.00 stuff has the 'ArchLib' utilities, too.

1 x Econet tester kit by AlSystems -- not sure what it is. I don't have
     a picture of it.

Various number of SJ Research branded econet connection points.

2 x BBC Masters -- don't know if they work, one of them did a few years
ago.

1 or two of those square Cub monitors - the ones that look like those
   ancient diving suit masks.

A few of the BBC Master (may fit BBC B?) Econet cards. These cards also
 work in the A5000.

I used to love playing with this setup since I used to manage the BBC
Network at school, but I'm a bit older now and will never use this stuff
again.

I want someone who will actually *use* the stuff, not sell it on Ebay or
rip it up. It's all working kit -- you could plug a BBC into the clock
box and login to the server.

I would like to sell it as one lump sum. I am not sure how much for,
but it's more important that the person who owns it will really like to
use it. If that's not you, please don't ask!
The buyer would have to collect it from either Coventry or Guildford.
It's not ready to be collected yet, but if anybody is interested in it,
I'll login to it and clean up the personal data off it.

If anybody is -- please email mozes@... -- or just ask
questions on this list.

Cheers!
Stuart
