Thanks for that, Ian. 

The squiggles and crashes sound like classic 'loose rom' symptoms.
Probably an iffy electrical connection or two somewhere in the chain.
The idea seems OK in principle - a bit like those four-way rom carts
that Watford etc did for the Master's cartridge slots where you could
switch two roms in at a time. I have one of those carts, but
unfortunately I don't have cartridge slots anymore. Which brings me to
your question about the 'Stealth Master'. This is a bit of a fun project
I put together from a pile of odd case halves and orphaned components.
It consists of a Master motherboard, PSU and keyboard fitted into a Beeb
case. Looks just like a BBC B but performs like a Master - hence the
'stealth' bit. The cartridge slots are inaccessible, of course, as I
didn't want to spoil the classic look of the B case - hence my interest
in your rom box.
