Subject: Andrew's rogue emails...

I went back through the email trash to see if I still had an example of
an 'unwanted' BBC Micro email from Andrew, and found one.  It was his
reply to tom@... in the "MODE 8" thread, when Tom had asked
which emulators Andrew used and Andrew replied "6502em and Beebit".

What Andrew must have done is written the reply "TO:" Tom, and BCC to
the BBC micro list.  The BCC copy got distributed to me and I dare say
everyone else.  Arriving here, Pluto did not recognise it as a mailing
list email, because it wasn't originally "TO: bbc-micro@...".  So in
fact my getting a copy of the mail isn't the problem - I'd have got it
anyway - what's wrong is that it arrives in my personal email box
rather than as part of the BBC Micro list, so I 'see' it as a rogue
mail.  

It would have been fine if Andrew'd replied to the list, and if he
really had to (but I don't see why, because surely Tom'd get a list
copy anyway?), also BCCed his reply to Tom.
