Subject: Ferroglen Research Z80 Personality Module?

Hmm, I found a little module at the museum over the weekend made by
Ferroglen Research, labelled as 'Lucifer' and 'Z80 Personality Module'.
It has a long training IDC cable at one side, terminating in an IDC plug
that'd conveniently fit a 1MHz bus socket, and a pass-through connector
at the other side.

It was in a box with a lot of (blank) ROMs and the remains of a Master
cartridge, which is the only thing that makes me wonder if it is for a
BBC; it could well be for something else entirely.

There's no large chips inside it, just a handful of LS logic sized
devices, from which all identifying marks have been ground off. If it is
indeed for a BBC presumably it hung from a system with a Z80 coprocessor
attached (a rather over-complicated form of dongle?).

A web / usenet search seems to turn up precisely zero useful info...

Any ideas? Anyone heard of the company and know what they do/did?

cheers

Jules
