It's an output device.  Well... it mixes the Beeb's video output with that
from another source, so I'm using 'output device' in the sense that the
it's not an input device.  The computer doesn't "see" any input in the
same way that the computer can "see" the input coming in from the
keyboard.

Remember how the Domesday was genlock'd in reverse?  The external source
(the laserdisc player) was locked to the computer, so that users (ie
schools) wouldn't have to modifiy the computer.

I'll have to go into work and look at the picture on the website ;) and
take a closer look.
