Subject: Re: Standard file format for BBC games?

Kris.

I think the idea of having an extra text file in the zip containing
information for an emulator to automatically start / map etc etc a program
would be worth doing.

Regarding the extra information, screen shots etc etc. I think what would be
better is a link to a database on the net. A database is perfectly capable
of storing binary data and could be linked to a web server to send the
appropriate information. That way the number of URL links can be kept to a
minimum, resulting in less 404's.

It could also be used for keeping a master copy of the extra files that you
propose. Then if changes are made, people who are connected to the net can
automatically be informed that there is a new file for that game. Simple to
do, just have the pimary key for the game in the info file. I think this is
the only way to go also from an administration standpoint. Web connected
databases can save so much time.

So who can provide space on an SQL server with .asp or similar capabilities.
