Subject: Disk Drive Problem

I've got a Cumana twin DS 40/80 switchable disk drive (Mistubshi 4853's).
Drive 0/2 work fine but when I try to use Drives 1/3, the light comes on but
nothing happens.  I got these drives second hand about 7 years ago and drive 1
has never worked in that time but it worked for the previous owner but was
never used.  The power/data cables are Ok, but there is a jumper missing that
is in place on the other drive, it is in the position marked MM next to are
two pins marked SM.  I've tried putting a jumper on both of these to no avail.

Does anybody have any ideas how to fix it.
